Sept 9 2011 Summerland Credit Union helps ASR

Summerland Credit Union is delighted to announce the donation of $2,537.50 to Australian Seabird Rescue (ASR) in Ballina as part of Summerland’s ECO Month.
One of Summerland products is the ECO Loan, which can be used for purposes that are environmentally friendly. An important element of the ECO Loan is that a portion of the loan establishment fee is set aside by the credit union, and allowed to accumulate with the aim to donate these funds to a locally-based environmentally focussed organisation.
Summerland’s Board has unanimously approved the first ever donation under this program to ASR. Margot Sweeny, Summerland’s CEO, said, “This is a great opportunity for us to support a deserving organisation. The work they undertake for our environment and the community is so important. I’m delighted we can assist.”
September is ECO Month at Summerland, when we celebrate everything ‘green’. We’ve set up a special area on our website, to showcase all the positive actions we are taking on our Environmental Journey. There’re also competitions and games for children, a carbon footprint calculator, environmental ideas for home and work, and lots more.
“Our ECO Loan is flexible, offers discounted interest rates and can be used to buy any number of ‘green’ products: from solar panels to water tanks or even pushbikes. We’re committed to supporting those in the community who believe together, we can work towards a greener Australia. Supporting ASR is an important part of our ECO Month this year,” Margot said. For more information, contact:
